A New Year.
Here we sit on the first day of 2010 and in retrospect 2009 has been quite a year. For the first time in more than a decade I worked for someone other than myself. That was full of strangeness all around but did reinforce the notion that anyone with a speck of common sense and a little bit of drive can outperform the majority of the people out there. Of course the biggest change in 2009 was the arrival of Miss Molly Jane making our house that little bit crazier. Quite often it’s like being in the center of a whirlwind and all you can do is hold on and hope for a smooth landing. Of course we wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
During one of the few quiet moments over Christmas I pulled down my dog eared copy of King Ink II by Nick Cave. As I was reading through an interview I came across a quote which I though summed up things pretty well.
“It was hard work loathing everything all the time. All that sustained hatred was a painful and tiring business.”
Over the last few months I’ve felt that way too. For the first time I can see the distance between who I was and who I am becoming. Less of the annoyances of the world and more of my wonderful wife and kids. On with the new year.

Hey, happy new year.
Thanks for reminding me.
Negativity is my weakness.
Need less of it. So far this year has been good!
